article imageMusical 'Holler if Ya Hear Me' related to Tupac bombs on Broadway

By Walter McDaniel     Jul 15, 2014 in Entertainment
New York City - After a rocky start the musical "Holler if Ya Hear Me" has failed on Broadway. The public simply was not interested in hearing a different take on the music of Tupac Shakur.
We will never know whether the musical would have gotten Tupac's approval since "Holler if Ya Hear Me" was an original story featuring his music. The performance itself had a grungy theme meant to capture the vibe that his music originally gave fans. The use of "related to" is the proper term for this because Tupac himself was not alive to be involved with the production in any way.
After a rough start producers told the press they would be keeping the performance open. After another week of poor sales they have finally decided to give up on their musical.
There is nothing particularly unusual about any performance failing on Broadway. A long history of other performances shows that it happens all the time and even Spider-Man can't carry every performance.
Tupac himself studied at the Baltimore School for the Arts. He studied many aspects of art there from dance to music before finally finding his persona. He would later use it to become one of the most noteworthy rappers of all time.
