article imageMark Schultz praises 'Foxcatcher' film, roots for Oscar wins

By Markos Papadatos     Jan 19, 2015 in Entertainment
Olympic gold medalist Mark Schultz is proud of the fact that the movie "Foxcatcher" snagged five Oscar nominations and hopes it will win big.
He shared on his official Facebook page. "I am praying so hard ‪#‎Foxcatcher‬ wins. Especially Bennett Miller, Steve Carell, and Mark Ruffalo," Schultz posted.
The Olympian praised Bennett Miller, dubbing him "the greatest director ever." "3rd time's the charm. He's due an Oscar," he said. Miller was previously nominated for an Academy Award for directing Capote, which starred the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Schultz also expressed his disappointment for Channing Tatum (who played him in the film) for failing to earn any recognition from the Academy Awards. "Channing Tatum GOT ROBBED. HE WAS SO GOOD IT WAS UNREAL. I'm amazed he wasn't nominated," he said. This was a fair statement, especially since Tatum stole every scene he was in Foxcatcher.
The film garnered rave reviews from Digital Journal, and rightfully so. All of the acting performances were transformative.
