British magician Jamie Raven chatted with Digital Journal about being the runner-up winner of "Britain's Got Talent" and his future plans.
On his Britain's Got Talent experience, he said, "That felt incredible. Out of 40,000 people that applied, I never thought, in my wildest dreams, that I would come in second. I couldn't be happier."
He added jokingly, "I was the first male human to win this year. I am at the top of my species, so I am very pleased with that."
The humble magician earned stellar feedback from critical judge Simon Cowell, who made him "believe in magic." "That was the best part of it all," he said. "In the audition, he said that he believed in magic, and at the final, he told me that magic must be real. There is no higher praise indeed for a man who apparently didn't like magic."
Raven will embark on two tours, one in November as part of The Illusionists in The West End, and then his solo tour starts on February 11, 2016. "I am really excited about both of those," he said.
He made Digital Journal's list of "Top 2 British Magicians That Everybody Needs to Know About." "That was amazing. There is no higher honor. I am thrilled," he said with a smile.
Aside from his magic, Raven is a huge philanthropist who lends his time to special causes such as Niamh's Next Step. "A friend of mine is a boxer and this is a charity that his wife is involved with. If you can help in any small way, such as wearing a wristband. It's a great cause and you can help others just by doing something little. I am always happy to help," he said. "There is another cause that I love, which is Spread a Smile, in London, where we go to hospitals and help kids. We have a great time in trying to help the little ones in their day, because they have a tough time in their hospital beds, so we are trying to cheer them up for a couple of minutes."
