The young British actor Luke Newberry and the drama series that he stars in have both been nominated for BAFTAs, to be announced later next month.
Newberry took the lead last year, in BBC Three’s break-out television drama series, In the Flesh.
The creation of upcoming writer Dominic Mitchell, the first season of three 60-minute episodes became an instant success with viewers and critics alike in the UK and North America, leading to more episodes being ordered by its commissioning TV channel, the soon-to-be-axed BBC Three.
Newberry, 24, has been nominated for the Leading Actor award, and Season 1 of the drama series itself is nominated for the Mini-Series award.
Created by Dominic Mitchell, the first season ran to three 60-minute episodes. Such was its success that BBC Three immediately commissioned a second season. Season 2 begins in the UK this weekend – Sunday, May 4 – on BBC Three, at 10 p.m. BST.
This year’s Arqiva BAFTA Television Awards will take place in London on Sunday, May 18.
