After taking a few minutes to catch their collective breath from their appearances at Coachella, burlesque cirque troupe Lucent Dossier is back at it.
Los Angeles performance artists Lucent Dossier are gearing up for their annual stint with The DoLab at the arts festival, Lightning In A Bottle this weekend. The festival returns to its traditional Memorial Day Weekend dates but with another new venue. For its tenth outing, the festival will be held at the San Antonio Recreation Area in Bradley, California. Lucent Dossier with share a bill with the likes of Little Dragon, Phantogram and Moby. The festival runs from May 22-24.
But before packing up costumes, props, sound equipment and aerial apparatus to head a little north, Lucent Dossier performed last week at a private event at the Disneyland House of Blues and and the California Science Center's, Discovery Ball. The tour officially kicks off at LIB and then the troupe will take two days to do laundry and repack to travel across the U.S. for the second stop of the "Light The World" tour in Providence, RI on May 28th. The troupe will stop in New York City, Norfolk Virginia, Philadelphia, the District of Columbia, Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Fargo ND, Boulder and Austin. They have just announced that they will return to the stage in their home city with a show at the famed Nokia Theater on July 26th Although dates have not yet been released, the troupe intends on touring the U.S. west coast and Canada during the summer, including the Shambala Festival in August.
Per their official press release, these performances will be interactive. In an interview done with founder Dream Rockwell in early 2013, the troupe creates worlds and then invites the audience into them. Having been to one of these shows previously, rest assured, there is a reason why it is called the Lucent Dossier Experience. The troupe will also be debuting music from their upcoming sophomore album which shares it's title with that of the tour. It includes vocals by Dream Rockwell and Sarah Llewellyn and band members Atla Gadret and Metaphase.
Lucent Dossier has made numerous television appearances in the past. They were an integral part of Panic! at The Disco's debut music video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" which aired many times on various music channels. Lucent also played a major role in Panic's "Nothing Rhymes With Circus" international tour. The troupe was spotlighted during the 2011 Scream Awards and were featured in an episode of Top Chef-Just Desserts. Recently they had the opportunity to perform with the international superstars of performance art, Cirque du Soleil.
