Listen to the new Michael Jackson album

By Jessica Jones-Langley     Apr 2, 2014 in Entertainment
Michael Jackson is set to release a new album from beyond the grave on May 13. The album entitled "Xscape" with eight previously unheard songs, includes one song that Justin Bieber has been previously linked with.
A 16-second teaser for the album's song "Xscape" has been released with the catch-phrase "the best you've never heard."
Michael Cragg, one of a small number of journalists who previewed the album earlier this week, wrote that: "Opening with a burst of disco-tinged soul, it's an album that seems to focus on songs from pre-90s Jackson, with the first song a light and airy take on the effortless Off the Wall era. With a youthful-sounding Jackson skipping in-between expensive-sounding production, it's reminiscent, somewhat ironically, of Justin Timberlake."
The album, "Xscape" was produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, after Reid was given unlimited access to four decades of material from Jackson.
Reid teamed up with top producers, including Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain, to “contemporize” the songs. A press release for the album says that the album "retained Jackson’s essence and integrity", promising that they have created "the best music you’ve never heard."
According to Time, the album's title comes from a song written and produced by Michael Jackson and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Jenkins has previously worked on hit songs with Brandy, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
The album's sixth song is "Slave to the music". A reworked version featuring Justin Bieber was previously leaked in August 2013, but was quickly removed as the result of a copyright claim. A version of the song features on a recent 90-second commercial for the new Xperia Z2 phone.
The album is available to pre-order on Apple's iTunes from April 1, with the album being released May 13.
