article imageKim Kardashian's sister, Kylie, wants to trademark her first name

By Owen Weldon     May 4, 2015 in Entertainment
Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian's sister, is trying to trademark her first name and she has already filed an application to do so.
The submission states that Kylie is trying to trademark her name (Kylie) to entertainment in the nature of providing info via global computer network in three fields: entertainment, pop culture and fashion.
If the trademark is granted, then in the future nobody else would be able to trade off the name Kylie.
The 17-year-old filed the application last month. According to TMZ, Kylie also wants to mark her territory for personal appearances by a model, celebrity and actress. That means she wants to be the only celebrity, model or actress to use the name for public appearances.
Not only did Kylie file an application, but so did her sister, Kendall. Kendall filed an application to trademark her first name, and for the same reasons that her sister filed one.
There are other celebrities that share the same first name, but they will probably not need to abide by the trademark. One of those celebirites is singer Kylie Minogue, who released her first album under the moniker back in 1988. The singer doesn't just go by her first name, and that is why she would likely not have to abide by the trademark.
