article imageKeith Urban concert leads to dozens of arrests and treatments

By Walter McDaniel     Jul 28, 2014 in Entertainment
Mansfield - Keith Urban was having a concern at the Xfinity Center when fans caused a minor riot. Police went in and removed more than 50 people while placing an extra 46 in treatment for alcohol-related health problems.
According to reports the event was a "Mass Casualty Incident" with 50 people going into police custody for their behavior. Journalists with the Sun place the blame on the fact that Urban has a very young fan base and that security was inadequate.
Local police managed to calm the crowd down despite being outnumbered. So many people were sick that multiple ambulances came to help. Paramedics rushed 22 of those brought in to nearby hospitals for more treatment. Around 18,000 fans were there for the performance in total and the event took play on July 26th.
"Comcast Center" was the original name of what is now called the Xfinity Center. Festivities in this area have a history of problems with drugs and alcohol that led to two deaths in 2012.
No deaths occurred and so far the largest impact from this has been major media coverage around alcohol concerns at his concerts. Xfinity Center management will likely face no charges since local authorities say local culture is to blame for these incidents.
