Katy Perry, who has already bagged the coveted Super Bowl halftime show next month, will be joined by Grammy-award winner Lenny Kravitz, on stage for a guest appearance.
"He's the coolest!" Perry said of Kravitz at an interview, which will be telecast on NBC on Monday, January 12, 2015. Kravitz's guest appearance was made during the Saturday playoff game between the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots. Kravitz will soon head of on the next leg of his world tour promoting Strut, his latest album.
Perry was not forthcoming of what songs she might perform on-stage, during the Super Bowl game that will be played on February 1 in Glendale Arizona. Comcast owned NBC will be broadcasting the event which will be the biggest sporting event of the year in the US. The Super Bowl 2014 averaged 112.2 million viewers on the Fox network, and the Bruno Mars/Red Hot Chili Peppers halftime show drew 115 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
Perry follows in the footsteps of Madonna, Beyonce and Prince at the halftime show, which is on average more popular than the game itself. The 30-year-old star has firmly established her superstar status with three multi-platinum studio albums, including her 2008 debut One of the Boys and the 2010 Teenage Dream, after which she became the only woman to have five single top the Billboard Hot 100 chart, namely “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night.” Prism, her latest album, is her third multi-platinum release.
