Sanchez, who was the runner-up of the 11th season of “American Idol” said she recorded the song just last weekend and was delighted to hear it being played hours before the DNC wrapped up to name Hillary Clinton as the party’s candidate for president.
“Literally just two or three days ago, I just recorded it,” Sanchez tells Billboard. “It was so last minute. I went in the studio, they mixed it that night and they sent it out the next day,” she said. “It’s crazy to me, because I didn’t think it was going to happen that quick,” Sanchez added.
Songwriters Carole Bayer Sager, Bruce Roberts and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds have contributed to the recording of the DNC theme song.
Speculations are high that Sanchez may hit Clinton’s campaign trail to do the song live during the campaign period. But the song will have to be recorded for commercial purposes as it is not available to the public at this time.
“I am going to go back in and re-record it and make it a lot more clean,” she said. “It will be the first time that I actually ever meet Babyface and work with him. I am really excited for that,” Sanchez added.
Sanchez isn’t new to the DNC. In 2012, the 20-year-old Mexican-Filipino-American performed during the last DNC gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina to endorse then presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
Early this year, Sanchez captivated the hearts of music lovers around the world with her rendition of “The Prayer” during her finale performance on the final season of American Idol.
Sanchez is looking forward to perform her DNC theme song live when the presidential campaign begins.
