A spoof trailer for “Man of Steel 2” has been released by It’s Big!, the French YouTube comedy channel known for its affectionate parodies of well-known fictional characters.
In the It’s Big! fake trailer for the long-awaited team-up between the superheroes Superman and Batman, a voiceover proclaims, “Every hero has a secret but, when it becomes too difficult to keep and the word starts to spread, they have to accept what they truly are.”
As reported by Gay Star News, the three-minute trailer goes on to reveal that the two American superheroes are gay for each other.
Initially, as often happens in real life, Batman is seen to be struggling with his sexuality — while Superman, on the other hand, is comfortable with his.
Superman learns that Batman is gay, too, and confronts him about his sexuality. A spot of romantic tension between the hunky pair then leads to Superman flying off with Batman in his arms.
In It’s Big!’s trailer, Batman and Superman are played by two actors other than their Man of Steel 2 counterparts, Henry Cavill (The Tudors) and Ben Affleck (Argo).
As yet untitled but often referred to as Batman vs, Superman, Man of Steel 2 was confirmed as going ahead in June 2013; again directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen), who helmed 2013's Man of Steel.
Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) has joined the cast as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot (Asfur) as Wonder Woman, while Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) plays Alfred.
A week ago, Snyder tweeted a first-look photograph of Afleck in costume as Batman, standing alongside a smoke-shrouded Batmobile.
Still currently filming, the movie is due for a US release in May 6, 2016.
