article image'Honey Boo Boo' canceled because Mama June is dating sex offender

The TLC network decided to cancel its show 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' because the co-star "Mama June" Shannon allegedly started to date a registered sex offender.
According to Entertainment Weekly, earlier this week it was reported that Shannon had just started to date Mark McDaniel, who is a convicted child molester. McDaniel was convicted in 2004 of aggravated child molestation of an 8-year-old.
After the report surfaced, some members of Shannon's family denied that the two were dating, and that they had not dated in 10 years.
Shannon said that the reports were not true and that she is not dating him, but she did confirm that the show has been canceled, according to CNN.
According to TMZ, McDaniel's victim was one of Shannon's relatives. McDaniels was released in March, after serving 10 years in jail.
When TMZ released the report, they posted a photo of Shannon and McDaniel at a small party in a hotel room. TLC made the decision to cancel the show because they thought she was putting her kids at risk.
TLC released a statement and they said that supporting the health and welfare of the kids are their only priority. They continued to say that they are committed to the kids' ongoing comfort, as well as their well-being.
It is said that TLC plans on paying for tutors and counselors for the kids.
'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' was about the family of former child beauty pageant contestant Alana Thompson, nickname "Honey Boo Boo."
