article imageGlue: First-look trailer for new UK murder-mystery drama (VIDEO)

A first-look trailer has been released by E4 for "Glue," the new countryside-set teen murder-mystery drama series from BAFTA-winning writer Jack Thorne.
Thorne — who contributed to the first two seasons of Skins in the UK — is also known for his work with movie director Shane Meadows on the Channel 4 TV drama mini-series This Is England '86 and its follow-ups This Is England '88 and upcoming This Is England '90 (all three series follow-ups to the Meadow's 2006 1983-set film This is England).
He also created the award-winning BBC Three sci-fi/supernatural drama, The Fades, which starred Iain De Caestecker (Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.) and Daniel Kaluuya (Psychoville).
According to Thorne, Glue was inspired by his own childhood fascination with countryside life around Newbury stables in England, depicting "a rural world little seen on television, one far from cosy period caricatures and full of 'ambition, hope, darkness and anarchy.'"
Glue is set in the tiny village of Overton. Situated in the English countryside, farming is the bread-and-butter of its inhabitants and racehorses are its beating heart. However, beyond the rolling hills and behind those stable doors lies a green-and-not-so-pleasant land.
"When the body of a local teenage boy is found underneath the wheels of a tractor, the villagers in this remote community – his friends – are forced to open up their world and watch their secrets spill out," the official synopsis reads. "Secrets that will change their particular brand of country life for ever."
Glue's cast of mainly young actors includes Jessica Cave (Harry Potter), Yasmin Paige (Submarine), Tommy Lawrence Knight (Waterloo Road), Tommy McDonnell (Starred Up), Charlotte Spencer (Line of Duty) and

Jordan Stephens.
Glue will see the acting debut of Stephens, who is one half of the English hip-hop duo, Rizzle Kicks.
Knight and Paige, of course, are well known to science-fiction fans as two of the young stars of The Sarah Jane Adventures, the Doctor Who spin-off created by Russell T Davies (Cucumber), starring the late Elisabeth Sladen.
They will be joined by Steve Oram, who starred in Ben Wheatley's Sightseers (2012), Jonny Owen (Shameless), Kerry Fox (Bright Star) and Kierston Wareing, who played Lia Honey in The Shadow Line, the 2011 thriller from Hugo Blick (The Honourable Woman).
An eight-part series, Season 1 of Glue is scheduled to premiere on E4 in September.
