article imageFear The Walking Dead: what’s ahead for AMC’s brand new show

By Rosemary Richings     Jun 26, 2015 in Entertainment
A brand new show by the creators of AMC’s hit television series The Walking Dead is debuting this summer, called Fear The Walking Dead.
Fear The Walking Dead's teaser trailer focuses on a Los Angeles radio broadcast, warning locals about a strange virus hitting the city, while unknowingly foreshadowing the impending zombie outbreak, through the following, ominous advice: “ if you’re not feeling well, take care of yourself.” Although the setting and the broadcasters’ voice is sunny and bright, the scene quickly builds up to the sound of creepy, deep breathing, then the sound of a woman’s high pitched scream, as blurry footage of a crowd of people moving quickly, and a zombie walking through a claustrophobic, poorly lit sewer tunnel, shows up on screen.
Fear The Walking Dead takes place during the early days of the zombie apocalypse, when Walking Dead protagonist, Rick Grimes was still in a coma. Its core focus is on the feelings of anxiety and anticipation bubbling up, as the virus slowly begins to spread. In a recent Variety Magazine article on Fear The Walking Dead, the show’s producer, Dave Erickson, called it a family drama, which focuses on middle aged couple, Travis and Madison, who are trying to keep their family together. Travis and Madison have two kids: Nick, a college drop out, and his little sister that he looks up to, Alicia: a bright, high school senior. According to Erickson the apocalypse forces their family together.
Fear The Walking Dead debuts August 2015, and coincides with The Walking Dead. Fans of The Walking Dead have both Walking Dead’s new season, premiering this fall, and Fear The Walking Dead ‘s new storyline and characters to look forward to. If you’re curious about how The Walking Dead zombie virus started, Fear The Walking Dead is your opportunity to find out.
