Fan Expo to take over Toronto August 28-31

This year’s four-day extravaganza at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre expects about 125,000 fans, and no wonder — there seems to be a little something for everyone.

Fans of sci-fi will be in for a real treat, with both renowned “captains” from Star Trek, Willam Shatner and Patrick Stewart, in attendance. Doctor Who fans will also have plenty to see, with appearances by Matt Smith (the Eleventh Doctor) and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and events like a gathering of Daleks and workshops by the Doctor Who Society of Canada.

On the horror side of things, get ready for a bunch of Walking Dead actors including Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, David Morrissey and more. Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness), Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws) and Ted Raimi (Spider-Man, Evil Dead) will be there too, and there will even be a Twin Peaks cast reunion.

Comic book fans can interact with dozens of comic book writers and artists, as well as Adam West and Burt Ward, known for their work as Batman and Robin in the 1960s. Anime fans will get the chance to see Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z‘s Japanese and English voice actors, Ryo Horikawa and Chris Sabat, respectively, along with Veronica Taylor (Pokemon), Vic Mignogna (Fullmetal Alchemist) and many more.

Gamers won’t be left out with a full gaming zone, with most of the correspondents from EP Daily on-hand.

If celebrity-watching isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other events, including a documentary on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a bunch of Star Wars events and even a chance to meet the cast of Murdoch Mysteries. You will also find professional cosplayers, a whole lot of shopping, “Artist’s Alley” and way too many other things to name.

Digital Journal will be attending this year’s festivities. Look out for live-tweeting, photos, interviews and panel coverage.
