The first
continues the adventures of the TARDIS-time-travelling Doctor’s incarnation as played by David Tennant (
Graceland) in the television series between 2005 and 2010, picking up with him welcoming a new companion, Gabriella Gonzalez, on board his Ship. In
Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor #1, Gabriella is stuck in a dead-end job in her family's New York Laundromat, “dreaming of college and bigger, better and brighter things [when] a strange man with an even stranger big blue box barges into her life on the eve of the
Day of the Dead celebrations.” In the tale that ensues, the Doctor and his new “plus one” tackle an infestation of psychic aliens.
The second series expands on the tenure of the Eleventh Doctor, as played in the TV show by Matt Smith (
Terminator: Genesis). Here, in
Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #1, the Doctor, as often is his wont, “explodes” into the life of Alice Obiefune, a young woman grieving for the recent loss of her mother. “But what does [she] have to do with the career of a 70s musician, an amnesiac alien and a terrifying cosmic threat?” the
synopsis intriguingly asks.

News of Titan’s Doctor Who Comics series
was announced at the beginning of 2014, following a deal struck between the publisher and BBC Worldwide. The deal means that, as well as standalone comic-book series featuring the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors, a Twelfth Doctor series will follow once the television series
has launched later this month.
The television series itself returns to TV screens and selected cinemas around the world on Saturday, August 23, when the
much-anticipated Season 8 begins with the feature-length adventure,
Deep Breath.
Written by
Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat,
Deep Breath is the first full adventure for the latest incarnation of the Doctor, a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who is now some 2,000 years old.
Peter Capaldi’s debut adventure is eagerly anticipated by the show’s fast-growing global fanbase, evidenced by the phenomenal demand there has been for tickets for the first-ever
Doctor Who World Tour.
Taking in seven cities on five continents in 14 days, Capaldi, Moffat and Jenna Coleman — who plays the Doctor’s travelling companion, Clara Oswald —
embark on the tour, in Cardiff, on Thursday, August 7.
