A new trailer for director Matt Reeves's upcoming movie — "Dawn of the Apes" — has today been released by 20th Century Fox.
Starring Andy Serkis, Dawn of the Apes follows on from 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes,
Serkis is well known for playing Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and Hobbit film franchises. For Dawn of the Apes, the 50-year-old British actor reprises the role of Caesar — the chimpanzee he played in the earlier movie.
Other cast members include Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Gary Oldman (Commissioner Gordon in the Dark Knight Batman films) and Keri Russell (The Americans). Supporting them are Toby Kebbell (The Escape Artist), Kodi Smith-McPhee (The Road), Enrique Murciano (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Kirk Acevedo (Prime Suspect).
As well as being a writer and producer, Matt Reeves was responsible for directing the 2008 monster-attack movie, Cloverfield, and 2010's vampire flick, Let Me In, which starred Dawn's Smith-McPhee as Owen, a bullied young boy befriended by a young female vampire. Reeves has also been slated for the next Apes sequel, currently expected in 2016.
Dawn of the Apes is due to be released July 11, in the US; July 17, in the UK.
