ALT, which is due to air shortly on E4 (home to the hit TV drama series
Misfits, from Howard Overman, that included among its cast Iwan Rheon (
Vicious) and
Love/Hate star Robert Sheehan), is set in an alternative universe, where Danny (Roberts) and his best friend Milo (Anthony) suddenly find themselves transported.
From 2004 to 2006, Roberts played in the BBC children’s drama
The Story of Tracy Beaker. In 2011, he played Adam, a young vampire, in the Toby Whithouse’s
Being Human; a role he returned to for the spin-off series
Becoming Human. He also took the lead in Richard Ayoade’s 2010 coming-of-age film,
Submarine.
The 23-year-old is currently filming
Kill Your Friends, a British dark-comedy crime-thriller, directed by Owen Harris, and has parts in two upcoming American films: Nicholas Stoller’s
Neighbors, which stars Seth Rogen (
Paul), Zac Efron (
High School Musical); and Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s
22 Jump Street — the sequel to their 2012 movie
21 Jump Street — once again starring Jonah Hill (
Cyrus) and Channing Tatum (
White House Down).
Anthony, 30, is best known for playing Renly Baratheon in George R. R. Martin’s
Game of Thrones. Later this year, he will be seen taking the lead in
Copenhagen, Mark Raso’s independent US/Canadian coming-of-age adventure film.
According to Wales Online, in this alternative world, the lads “encounter different versions of themselves [as well as] two sword-wielding assassins intent on hunting them down and killing them.”
The assassins are played by Jason Flemyng (who, in 2005, played Professor Quatermass in
Mark Gatiss’s live remake of Nigel Kneale’s
The Quatermass Experiment) and Arsher Ali (
Four Lions). Also joining the cast is Roxanne McKee (
Game of Thrones), who plays Milo’s girlfriend, Suzy.
ALT( has been created by and is written by Jamie Mathieson, formerly a writer on both
Being Human and
Becoming Human.
