Cindy Crawford to produce modeling wars TV show

Showing no signs of slowing down from her modeling or acting career, 49-year old Cindy Crawford will be debuting in NBC’s “Icon” as producer. The television show, which depicts modeling wars from the 1980s, will be another major role in her career guaranteed to draw rave reviews. The storyline is about the reality of talent management agencies and the tensions often felt between them, and models who contracted them.
Robin Bissell, the well-known writer and producer of the Hunger Games series, penned the series’ script and co-produced it with Cindy Crawford. The numerous modeling wars between Ford Models (which was Ford Modelling Agency) and Elite Model Management will be presented before an audience. An era which produced today’s renowned super divas like Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista will be spotlighted without using the actual names of agencies or models, according to media coverage of the show.
Born in DeKalb, IL in 1966, Crawford has seen coverage in Harper’s Bazaar, W, People, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Vogue, and Allure. After her illustrious modeling career wore down in 2000, she was the face of several celebrity endorsements and even reemerged in the modeling scene in 2011, doing a cover shoot for Vogue Mexico. Richard Gere and Rande Gerber were her spouses at different times in her career, and she’s even the 41st descendent of Charlemagne.
Crawford didn’t actually consider modeling as her main career at first, stating she came from a generation where modeling wasn’t thought of frequently, if at all. Most individuals in her time thought about playing football or singing. However, with the advent of Instagram and the emergence of selfie photos, her perspective on modeling as a career has changed. She was first discovered as an outstanding child model and talent at 16.
Her modeling wars producer role will be her first, although she appeared in other shows like MTV’s House of Style and became an iconic spokeswoman for Pepsi. She previously starred alongside William Baldwin and Salma Hayek in Fair Game, a 1995 hit movie about KBG operatives looking to whack Kate McQuean (Crawford). She played in two other 1995 movies (Catwalk, Unzipped) where she player herself. At present, her estimated net worth is rumored to exceed $100 million, which could significantly increase if this show garners a large viewing audience.
“Icon” hasn’t officially been announced by NBC in terms of airing times, although we do know she’ll only produce the show, and not physically appear.
