Digital Journal had the pleasure to attend the gala show and interview the special guest dancers and musician on the second night of the conference.
The conference was filled with informative and fun workshops for dancers interested in Middle Eastern dance and music. Its mission was to provide a safe, fun environment for all styles of Middle Eastern Dancers to show their work in front of an expert panel of judges, obtain valuable feedback, make friends and compete to win a title. The conference was open to both women and men at any level of dance experience, in any style of Middle Eastern Dance.
"The conference encompasses everything about belly dancing such as workshops for dance movement, academic lectures around Middle Eastern culture and music. Since the International Belly Dance Conference of Canada doesn't run anymore so I thought that there needs to be something in Canada that touches in all those areas so I thought I guess we had to it." - Maki Natori
