Deadline reports that he just started shooting a still-untitled half-hour sitcom for the streaming service in New York City.
Starring alongside Ansari in the 10-episode run will be Eric Wareheim (Tim & Eric), H. Jon Benjamin (the voice of the title character on Archer), Lena Waithe (one of the producers on Dear White People), Saturday Night Live alum Noel Wells, and Bob’s Burgers writer Kelvin Yu, according to The Verge.
Along with starring in the show Ansari will also serve as one of several executive producers, according to Yahoo. Joining Ansari in the executive producer role will be Parks and Recreation alumni including executive producer Alan Yang, who helped create the Netflix show, co-creator Michael Schur and David Miner, another executive producer from the beloved NBC show.
Neither Netflix or anyone else involved in the sitcom haven’t even released a official synopsis for the show, but Deadline reports that the shows will center around dating and relationships.
Aziz and everyone else involved with Parks and Recreation finished the seventh and last season of the fan-favorite NBC comedy starring Amy Poehler earlier this year. Aziz was actually the first person cast in the show that was originally described as a spinoff of The Office.
Netflix and Ansari are no strangers when it comes to working with each other. The 32-year-old’s last two specials, Buried Alive and Live at Madison Square Garden is available exclusively through the streaming service in addition to his older stand-up specials.
Netflix’s original programming has been in the news a lot this week as it was announced that there will be a second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, and Fuller House, a spin-off of Full House that ran for eight seasons.
No air date has been announced for the Ansari-led sitcom.
