Marvel Studios maintains the day’s momentum by launching a more amusing, extended look at its upcoming ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’
As if the announcement of nine new pictures were not buzzworthy enough, Marvel Studios followed through on their original promise of an exclusive look at Avengers: Age of Ultron during last night’s episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
After the teaser trailer was leaked last week, the studio responded by taking the high road with a humorous tweet and posting the full-length trailer on their own YouTube page. Appearing much darker than the previous superhero vehicles, the lack of typically witty one-liners to alleviate the mood is a clear indicator this film is going to have a significant impact on the Marvel universe.
But perhaps this impression was a little too dark. To rectify matters, Marvel has given fans a special look at a scene from the film. During the episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that aired shortly after the studio’s phase three presentation mentioned above, they showed an extended version of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer.
The video begins with a lighter scene from the movie in which the plain-clothed superheroes, gathered for a relaxing night in, unsuccessfully attempt to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir. As they each try to rationalize their comical failure, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) retorts, “I have a simpler [explanation] — you’re all not worthy.” Their laughter is interrupted by the entrance of Ultron, which launches the previously released trailer that unfolds to an eerie cover of “I’ve Got No Strings.”
Still, it’s a bit of a relief to see at least some fun will be had before it gets all doom and gloom as the original teaser suggested.
