Marvel turns around potential disaster by acknowledging ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ leak and releasing the official version online.
At the end of this week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it was announced the official trailer for the second Avengers movie would premiere during next week’s episode. Less than 24 hours later, a low-res version was leaked online and the Internet was abuzz with early analyses of next spring’s blockbuster. Though there was probably a furious eruption behind closed doors, the studio kept a sense of humour about the incident publicly. Shortly after the release, Marvel’s official account tweeted: “Dammit, Hydra.”

The brief but amusingly appropriate response was followed by the official teaser trailer being made available on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube account and another tweet announcing the equally ambiguous teaser poster. The trailer is an extended version of the ones shown at the San Diego and New York comicons earlier.
Much darker than the previous superhero vehicles, there are no witty quips to lighten the mood. It’s unclear exactly what has the team of Earth’s mightiest protectors looking so despondent, but Bruce Banner looks like he’s been put through the wringer and no one wants to make eye contact with each other. An eerie cover of Pinocchio’s “I’ve Got No Strings” plays in the background and Ultron (James Spader) finishes the quote in a chilling declaration. With the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) at Ultron’s side, and the Avengers turning against one another in a city on fire, the future looks dismal — which is in line with the rumoured “Civil War” storyline for 2016’s Captain America 3.
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in May 2015.
