Acclaimed actress Alyson Stoner chatted with Digital Journal about her newest shows "Sugar Babies" and "Summer Forever."
Her new drama Sugar Babies will premiere on Lifetime on August 15, which features her single "Pretty Girls" as its opening song. "I am very excited. It is a very relevant topic, so I am hoping that it gets some social commentary about what is happening everywhere," she said.
Stoner's new teen musical Summer Forever will either be released later this month, or early next month. She stars in it, alongside actresses Megan Nicole and Anna Grace Barlow. "It follows three best friends on their final weekend together before they leave for college, and it is really fun and relatable. It is directed by Roman White, who directs Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood's music videos. I play Liv, she is very outgoing and outspoken, but under the tough exterior she is really concerned that her best days are behind her. My favorite part about this film is that I finally got a chance to do solo numbers, where I really showcase all of what I have been growing into as an artist: vocally, dance-wise and acting," she said. "This movie is sincere in its relationships and story points. This project is one of the most special projects that I have ever worked on to date."
As Digital Journal reported, Stoner was named Goodwill Ambassador with "I Pour Life," and she will be raising $10,000 for an upcoming trip to Ethiopia to help teach women trade and life skills. "I am headed to Ethiopia in three weeks. I worked with them for seven years, so our goal is to work alongside with individuals and train them in life skills, health-care, finances and unlocking their potential by restoring dignity in their dreams, so that they can elevate themselves and their families out of poverty and into sustainability."
She hinted that she may have a new single and music video in the works, that will be the follow-up to "Pretty Girls," which will have "a lot of dance."
Stoner concluded by expressing her gratitude for her fans for their support. "I hope that the fans are taking opportunity to fully engage with their skills and with people and with their dreams. That is what has been driving me recently: to make the most out of it all."
