Actor Keith Collins talks Tourette awareness event in NYC (Includes interview)

When asked why this cause is so important to him, the actor responded, “I am an advocate for Tourette Syndrome. I was diagnosed at age of five and it is very close to my heart. Awareness is the key, education and getting the word out there to the public. Many people aren’t fully aware how many of the thousands diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome are out there struggling every day. It can be a very embarrassing disorder and there is no cure.”

On Tuesday, June 7, Collins with be alongside New York City icon the “Naked Cowboy” (Robert Burck), as they raise awareness for this cause. Collins will be bearing it all, wearing just cowboy boots, a hat, guitar and the signature Naked Cowboy underwear briefs, as he poses for pictures all in support of Tourette awareness, and all who live with this misunderstood neurological disorder. All of the funds raised from the day will be donated to the New York City Chapter of the Tourette Association. “I have never done anything like this before I am definitely expecting the unexpected with this one! But looking forward to raising as much awareness as i can as a Naked Cowboy,” he said.

Collins continued, “To be alongside one of the biggest NYC fixtures is a pure pleasure. Robert, who is also known as The Naked Cowboy, is super supportive, focused and driven. I am so grateful that they are all willing to support the cause and allow me to join their group by letting me donate my proceeds from the day to Tourette Syndrome.”
