article imageAcademy names 2016 Oscar producers

By Tim O'Brien     Sep 1, 2015 in Entertainment
Los Angeles - The Oscars will get two new producers as it was today (Sept. 1) announced by Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs.
Boone Isaacs announced that Emmy®-winning live television producer David Hill and Oscar®-nominated producer-director Reginald Hudlin, will take over as producers of the live event. It will air on ABC on Feb. 28, 2016.
Both Hill and Hudlin are industry professionals with impressive resumes. Hudlin is a Fox veteran, who played important roles in Sky Sports and Sky Television. He left Fox and started his own production company. "What a great and exciting honor. The quest is to honor the year in film, honor the art, and above all, make it fun," said Hill, in an Academy release.
Hudlin is no stranger to show business as he was an one Oscar-nominated producer for "Django Unchained." He produced last year's Governors Awards as well. “I’m looking forward to working with the Academy again,” said Hudlin.
He added that he does love the industry and its depth. “I love every kind of film and this year’s awards will be a celebration of the total range of cinema," Hudlin noted.
For both, however, it will be the first time they are tapped to bring the top-rated entertainment broadcast to life. That is not lost on Boone Isaacs. “We’re delighted to have this talented team on board,” said Boone Isaacs. “David is a true innovator with a dynamic personality. His vast experience as a live events producer, coupled with Reggie’s energy, creativity and talent as a filmmaker, is sure to make this year’s Oscar telecast a memorable one.”
The most recent Oscar team, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, were not expected to return after three stints as producers. While they hit a high with Ellen DeGeneres as host, a recent low was also struck with Neil Patrick Harris at the helm.
No host was announced today but now that the show has its producers, the host and director announcement cannot be far off.
