Ms. Marvel #15 was released last Wednesday on May 13th from Marvel Comics, where it continues from the previous issue. Things are getting interesting for Kamala Khan, the new Ms. Marvel, because she is at the mercy of the hostile group of next-generation Inhumans led by the mysterious and demonic-looking Lineage.
I was surprised that Lineage and his followers, which includes Kamran, have taken over New Attilian.
Kamala is persuaded by Lineage to join him in creating a new kingdom of Inhumans, where she obviously refuses and buys time by playing along as she secretly dials Bruno. I have to say that Lineage underestimates the people of modern day teenagers like Kamala.
Luckily for Kamala, she manages to get in touch with Bruno.
Bruno realizes that Kamala is in danger, cuts class, and skips the rest of school in order to reach New Attilian. I have to admire Bruno’s effort because he’s a normal human, which means he has to take normal means to reach Kamala.
Kamala is forced to hold her own against her pursuers, where she lures Kaboom into the Inhumans’ version of the X-Men’s Danger Room. It was entertaining to see Kaboom deal with one of the training simulators.
But Kamala is far from being safe when she is intercepted by Kamran.
A fight ensures as Kamran demands that Kamala apologize to Lineage for the former’s sake, which Kamala adamantly refuses. It leads to an intense fight as Kamala outsmarts Kamran and escapes from him.
Lineage implies that Kamran failed, which the latter admits to.
Kamran says that they have lost the chance to control the Khan bloodline, but Lineage reveals that Kamala is not the only person in the family to have Inhuman powers. Ms. Marvel #15 ends on the cliffhanger of the revelation, where the identity of the other Khan family member will likely be revealed in Ms. Marvel #16.
What did I think of Ms. Marvel #15?
I think Marvel Comics seriously wants to put poor Kamala through the ringer.
I knew something was up with Kamran when he revealed his powers to Kamala at the end of Ms. Marvel #13, which had me suspicious of his intentions. My suspicions were confirmed in Ms. Marvel #14 when Kamran offered Kamala a ride to school, but took her to a location other than school.
Kamran has revealed his true self, a complete tool, and Kamala has had it with him.
The relationship was too good to be true, which sucks for Kamala. I have a feeling that Lineage might instruct Kamran to go after Kamala’s family afterward.
But I’m curious about the other member with powers.
Could it be Kamala’s older brother or some other member of the family? I’m liking the older brother as a possibility.
First it’s Kamala’s new love interest and now a member of her family is going to get pulled in.
I give Ms. Marvel #15 a grade of A.
I expect Kamran’s going to beat the s—t out of Bruno in the near future though.
It’s obvious that the Inhumans’ storyline in the MCU via Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is adapted from the Ms. Marvel storyline.
