article imageReview: Coming out of nowhere, The Lockhearts have graced music

New York - There’s a new rock quartet from Sydney, Australia on the block. They are called “The Lockhearts.”
This group has seemingly come out of nowhere, earning an unusually long residency at Ziggy Pop Spectrum on Oxford St in Sydney.
They’ve also graced MTV on heavy rotation (peaking at #2 on the MTV Hits Charts) and now MTV Latin America with their debut music video for “Freakshow” (directed by Tanzeal Rahim), which can be viewed at Youtube:
There’s one simple statement they use as their mission: “Don’t bore us, get to the chorus.”
Well, “Freakshow” certainly made the group get closer to this mission.
This is a song you can judge by its intro. If you’re not immediately into it by the five-second mark, this song isn’t for you. If you are hooked at that point, you’re in for a ride. This band’s character comes from its hard-hitting instruments.
You can hear the drums being beat to a pulse, a bold bass line, and heavy guitar distortion. Added on top of these instruments is Tim Meaco’s shrill and militant voice: screaming at his audience with demands to get weird. During the chorus, there are even some background synths to give the track more of a modern flare.
