article imageArtist has an eye for detail Special

Edmonton - Ryan Wispinski has an eye for detail. Not just an eye, but a talent for creating images within images in most of his pieces of art.
Wispinski is an emerging artist in Edmonton who creates fascinating wood carvings and illustrations. His work ranges from whimsical to fantasy-based to celebrations of nature. Some of his pieces are even wearable.
He often uses found wood from which to make his creations, such as fallen branches and abandoned telephone polls. Many of his carvings have a main theme, but also contain smaller details that are stand-alone scenes in themselves. The same can be said for his illustrations.
As a photographer, such details posed a challenge. I could potentially take 30 photos of one carving from different angles and lighting, and still not be able to do it justice. But the best way to get a feel for Wispinski's art is to take a look at it. The photos in this article were taken during his show at Naked Cybercafe in April of 2014.
