The first official trailer for the eagerly anticipated movie based on the children's favourite, Paddington Bear, has now been made available.
Paddington is the first big-screen outing for the popular children's character originally created by Michael Bond in 1958.
In total, Paddington featured in over 20 books, all written by Bond and originally illustrated by Peggy Fortnum.
Subsequently, Paddington appeared on television, in three separate series: Paddington (1975), which was narrated by the late Michael Hordern; Paddington Bear (1989); and The Adventures of Paddington Bear (2008).
From 1965, a special Paddington story appeared in the Blue Peter Annual each year, following the revelation that Bond also worked as a cameraman on the BBC's children's magazine programme Blue Peter. The original premise saw Paddington become mixed up in the programme itself and led to further stories in the annuals for many years. Subsequently, in 1973, all these stories were published in one collection, Paddington's Blue Peter Story Book, with a second Blue Peter-based book, Paddington on Screen, following afterwards.
The film, directed by Paul King (The Mighty Boosh), is due to be released later this year, on November, 28. It will be a mix of live action and CGI.
As reported by Digital Journal last year, Paddington's voice has been provided for the film by Colin Firth (The King's Speech); while other members of the cast include Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jim Broadbent (Le Week-End), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who), Sally Hawkins (Made in Dagenham), Nicole Kidman (Queen of the Desert) and Julie Walters (Mo).
